1950s Child’s Chair
Wednesday, 18 June 2008
Seating_co513

Furniture for children these days is quite often made of plastic, so it can endure the knocks and bangs from little ones. If you are looking for something with a bit more character and style than the modern offerings, then Vervolgenjaren in the Netherlands are currently selling this beautiful 1950s Child’s Chair.

Designed by Kristian Vedel for the Danish manufactuer Orskow & Co, it is an original piece form 1957. It is adjustable to fit the height of your child, with the adjustable pieces held in place by tension so there are no nasty bolts or nails that could injure a youngster.

So it looks good and is still practical for children, but there are a couple of downsides. Firstly price is on application which usually means it is expensive and secondly as it is vintage, there is only one available. Visit the Vervelogenjaren website to enquire further.

Skateboard Speaker Shelf for your iPod
Wednesday, 18 June 2008
Skate_shelf

Skateboards have been hip for more years than I can remember, so what better thing to convert into an audio system - as is the case with the Skateboard Speaker Shelf.

It's a two-way item. First up, it's a shelf for storing our bits and pieces, but also it's an audio system, with 2x 3-inch speakers built in and a dock that's compatible with most iPod models.

Sized at 29 x 5.5 x 8 inches and available in a choice of colours, it sells for $129, which is around £65.

Popular Culture: Rock and Pop Memorabilia auction at Christies
Wednesday, 18 June 2008
Anarchy

If you're a fan of rock and pop memorabilia, you need to make a note of July 10th 2008 in your diary - that's the date of the Popular Culture: Rock and Pop Memorabilia auction at Christies in London.

Covering everything from the 1960s to the present day, you can bid big for items like Paul Weller's guitar, a Pink Floyd bass or a Led Zeppelin amplifier, not to mention clothes from the likes of Madonna and Elton John. But we like to be a little more realistic - and we've picked out two sound investments that aren't going to break the bank.

Shown here is an original tour poster from the Sex Pistols-headlined Anarchy In The UK Tour (the Torquay show to be precise), along with a flyer for a Sex Pistols show at Eric's in Liverpool. Both have estimates around the £400 mark, which sounds a lot - but you can see these going up and up as the years pass. Check out these and all the other lots at the link below.
